Therapeutic Goals

MindMatters Quest: The Mystical Forest has been designed to achieve the following therapeutic goals for teens:

    • Gain a sense of belonging, competence, and responsibility

    • Express thoughts and feelings appropriately and to improve communication

  • Stress/Anxiety

    • Implement cognitive and behavioral strategies that reduce stress

    • Manage changes in self and environment appropriately

  • Anger Management

    • Manage anger and control impulsive behavior

  • Low Self-Esteem

    • Increase social interaction, assertiveness, and confidence in self

    • Demonstrate improved self-esteem by accepting compliments, by identifying positive characteristics about self, by being able to say no to others, and by eliminating self-disparaging remarks

  • Peer Conflict

    • Compete, cooperate, and resolve conflict appropriately

  • Social Anxiety

    • Develop the essential social skills that will enhance the quality of interpersonal relationships

    • Interact socially with peers on a consistent basis without excessive fear or anxiety

    • Gain a sense of belonging, competence and responsibility

  • Depression

    • Develop healthy cognitive patterns and beliefs about self and the world that lead to alleviation of and help prevent the relapse of depression symptoms
